How to Decorate a Coffee Table for Christmas

How to Decorate a Coffee Table for Christmas

Are you starting to feel the Christmas spirit? When you start decorating for Christmas in your home is up to you! Some people love to decorate the day after Halloween while others like to wait until Thanksgiving is over. It’s a wildly heated debate, but I say it’s up to you. It’s your home to decorate, and you can do what you want to. However, whatever you decide, your coffee table is one spot that you’ll likely put decorations. While you may have seen my Tips for Styling the Perfect Coffee Table blog, I thought I’d put a holiday spin to help you transform your living space.

How to Decorate a Round Coffee Table for Christmas

For a round coffee table, you’ll want to stick with other round items. Fortunately, there are a lot of directions that you can go with this that still fit the Christmas theme. You may opt for a round tray that provides your centerpiece with a solid foundation. On top of that, you may consider a beautiful Christmas wreath, which can go any number of directions. It can be a simple green wreath, or it can be ornate. You can choose something pre-lit or flocked, real or faux. It’s entirely up to you!

If you choose to go the wreath route, it’ll likely take up a lot of your tray. If you decide against that, you may consider a pretty poinsettia or a cluster of holiday candles with your favorite seasonal scent. Anything with a round base will look visually proportional on your round coffee table.

How to Decorate a Glass Coffee Table for Christmas

Part of decorating a gorgeous coffee table is learning to combine various styles and textures. If your coffee table is glass, you’re starting with a clean, modern, smooth, and elegant foundation. Due to the reflective properties of glass adding candles or twinkle lights will enhance the light and create and even more spectacular glow. You’ll also want to add seasonal elements that help to elevate it. These could include a patterned fabric table runner, wooden trees, antler candle holders, leftover tree ornaments, pinecones, wooden tray, seasonal plants or flowers, etc. Additionally, depending on the shape of your coffee table, you’ll also want to pull from the above and below sections to ensure you’re selecting items that make sense spatially.

How to Decorate a Square Coffee Table for Christmas

I recommend employing a festive table runner and using a square tray as your foundation. Fill this tray with any other festive items you’d like to include on your coffee table.

If you’re feeling stumped as to what is “festive,” look for holiday candles, ornaments, decorative Christmas trees, plants or tiny wreaths, reindeer, etc. Mix different styles, textures, and colors if possible as this will make your coffee table interesting for guests to look at.
